Chinese Jade (Sinocrassula yunnanensis)

Sinocrassula yunnanensis, commonly known as Chinese Jade, is a stunning and unusual succulent admired for its compact rosettes of densely packed, pointed leaves. The velvety foliage ranges from deep green to dark purple and almost black, especially when grown under bright light. Its dramatic colouring and attractive clustering growth habit make it a striking addition to any succulent collection.

Origin: Native to Yunnan Province in southwestern China, where it grows in rocky, mountainous habitats.

Rarity: Uncommon in general cultivation and highly desirable among collectors, particularly specimens displaying intense dark colouring and well-developed clusters.

Care: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or gentle morning sun to maintain its compact growth and rich colouring. Plant in a well-draining, gritty soil mixture and water moderately, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Protect from intense afternoon heat, frost and excessive moisture.

A beautiful and distinctive collector’s succulent, valued for its almost black foliage, compact rosettes and unusual appearance.

Care tips:

• Light: Provide bright light and gradually introduce direct sunlight.
• Watering: Water during the growing season and allow the growing medium to dry completely between waterings.
