Situated in Bishopstowe, near Pietermaritzburg, is this beautiful indigenous garden. With spectacular views over nearby farmlands, the garden was changed from roses to aloes some years ago and is nothing short of amazing. The green thumbs of the owners, Femma and Rick Hackland, have ensured that this garden has grown and flourished and is a have for bees, butterflies and birds, all attracted by the bright blooms.
The garden flourishes despite poor soil with its indigenous roots and limited rainfall. Pincushions dance in the early morning sun while the wide variety of aloes ensure a dazzling display of colour, from bright orange to pale yellows, interspersed with cacti, succulents and various garden features, ranging from fountains to benches.
