Phygelius ‘Candy Drops Deep Rose’ TM PBR
A compact, ever-blooming treasure, Phygelius ‘Candy Drops Deep Rose’ is prized for its striking clusters of deep rose-pink tubular flowers that appear from early summer right through to autumn. These nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for sunbirds and butterflies, bringing vibrant life and colour to your garden for months on end.
This South African native (also known as Cape Fuchsia) is naturally tough and low-maintenance, forming a neat, bushy mound of fresh green foliage about 40–60 cm high. Its long flowering season and vivid colour make it perfect for mixed borders, containers, or as a cheerful edging along pathways and patios.
Planting & Care
Choose a sunny to semi-shaded spot with well-drained soil enriched with compost. Water regularly during hot, dry spells to encourage continuous flowering, but avoid waterlogged conditions. A light mulch will help keep roots cool and conserve moisture. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring and again in midsummer to promote lush growth and prolific blooms.
Pruning & Maintenance
Trim back lightly after flowering to keep plants compact and to stimulate fresh shoots and flowers. Remove spent flower spikes to prolong blooming. In colder areas, a heavier cutback in late winter will rejuvenate the plant for the new season.
