Phygelius ‘Candy Drops Cream’
Delight in the soft elegance of Phygelius ‘Candy Drops Cream’, a compact perennial that showers the garden with creamy-white, tubular blooms from early summer into autumn. These nectar-rich flowers glow in morning and evening light, drawing in sunbirds and butterflies for months of colour and activity.
A hardy South African native, it forms a neat mound of fresh green foliage about 40–60 cm high. Its long flowering season and gentle hues make it ideal for brightening mixed borders, adding contrast in containers, or softening pathways and patio edges.
Planting & Care
Select a sunny to semi-shaded position with well-drained, compost-enriched soil. Water regularly in hot, dry weather to maintain continuous flowering, but avoid soggy conditions. A light mulch keeps roots cool and conserves moisture. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring and again midseason to encourage lush growth and plentiful blooms.
Pruning & Maintenance
Remove spent flower spikes to extend the flowering period. Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a tidy, compact shape. In colder regions, cut back more firmly in late winter to rejuvenate the plant for the new growing season.
