Fresh, fragrant and wonderfully versatile, Leptospermum petersonii is an attractive evergreen shrub or small tree valued for its aromatic lemon-scented foliage and soft, natural form. When brushed or crushed, the leaves release a bright citrus fragrance, making it a superb choice near pathways, patios and outdoor living spaces. In spring to early summer, it produces masses of small white flowers, loved by bees and beneficial insects.

Leptospermum petersonii

(Lemon-Scented Tea Tree)

This fast-growing shrub thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it perfectly suited to South African conditions — from coastal gardens to inland areas with mild frost. It is naturally bushy but responds well to pruning, allowing it to be shaped into a screen, hedge, feature shrub or small ornamental tree. Once established, it is drought-tolerant, hardy and easy to grow, requiring minimal maintenance beyond occasional shaping.

Ideal for gardeners wanting fragrance, wildlife-friendly planting, and year-round greenery with a soft Australian aesthetic.
