Faucaria bosscheana is a striking, low-growing succulent admired for its geometric leaf form and bold texture. Its thick, triangular leaves grow in tight rosettes, edged with soft tooth-like margins that give the plant a sculptural, almost architectural look. In season, bright yellow daisy-like flowers emerge, opening in sunlight to create a vivid contrast against the cool green foliage.

Perfect for rockeries, succulent bowls, and sunny container displays, this compact grower thrives in full sun and sharply drained soil. It is drought tolerant once established and requires very little maintenance, making it ideal for water-wise gardens. With its unusual form and cheerful blooms, Faucaria bosscheana adds character, colour, and modern appeal to any succulent collection.

Mostly spring to early summer in cultivation (peaks reported in late spring / November in native range); flowers may open any time of year in favourable conditions but tend to be most abundant in the warmer/wetter season.

Uses

Mostly spring to early summer in cultivation (peaks reported in late spring / November in native range); flowers may open any time of year in favourable conditions but tend to be most abundant in the warmer/wetter season.

Position

Full sun to light-filtered/partial sun. Best flowering and compact habit in full sun (can tolerate some coastal/semi-shaded positions).

Watering

Moderate during active growth (allow topsoil to dry between waterings). Avoid waterlogging — susceptible to root rot in poorly drained soils. Some sources note regular watering in summer growers; allow drier resting intervals.

Soil

Very well-draining, sandy/rocky or gritty mix. Use cactus/succulent potting mix amended with coarse sand, grit or perlite. Plant with the caudex slightly above soil level for best appearance.

Hardiness

Prefers warm, dry conditions. Tolerates light cool periods but not prolonged hard frost. Protect from severe frost.

Mature size

Typically 6–10 cm
