It requires full sun to partial shade and well draining soil. It is ideal for rock gardens or planters. It is drought resistant and easy to maintain.

Crassula capitella ‘Red Pagoda’ is native to the South African provinces of the Gauteng, Mpumalanga, the Free State, Limpopo, Kwazulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. It can also be found in parts of Namibia and Botswana. It boast prominent shades of red in Winter. The ‘Red Pagoda’ is a creeper and makes an ideal ground cover. It grows up to 15cm tall with a spread of 45cm. Whilst this succulent is drought tolerant, it prefers regular irrigation. It blooms small clusters of starry flowers in the Summer. This beauty is easy to maintain and great for novice gardeners.

Viburnum tinus ‘Compacta’ is a dense, evergreen shrub valued for its neat growth habit, glossy foliage, and clusters of delicate flowers that brighten the garden during the cooler months. Viburnum tinus ‘Compacta’ forms a rounded, bushy shrub with smaller, tighter growth than the standard species. Its dark green, leathery leaves are oval-shaped and glossy, creating an attractive backdrop for the plant’s winter blooms. From late autumn through winter and into early spring, tight clusters of pink buds open into small, star-like white flowers that provide subtle colour and charm when few other plants are flowering.
After flowering, the plant produces small metallic-blue berries that add further ornamental interest and attract birds to the garden.

This lovely plant brings interest to the garden all year round, and is one of my favourite plants.
First it has the flower buds and the resultant beautiful flowers, and then the architectural seed heads throughout Autumn.
It’s an evergreen perennial which likes full sun but will appreciate some partial shade during hot summer afternoons.
The yellow hooded flowers are in clusters well above the basal foliage which remains as a low ground covering mound.
The ornamental seed heads are a great food source for birds. It is an excellent choice for cottage gardens, dry sunny borders, wild gardens and meadows.
