Agapanthus nana blue

Stapelia leendertziae — often called the black bells stapelia — is a fascinating succulent prized for its unusual, dramatic flowers. Thick, upright green stems form neat clumps, creating an architectural look even when the plant is not in bloom. When flowering, it produces large, deep maroon to purple bell-shaped blooms with a textured surface — a true conversation piece in any collection.

Like many stapelias, the flowers have a distinctive scent that attracts pollinators, making this plant especially interesting for gardeners who enjoy the quirks of nature. Its bold appearance pairs beautifully with other succulents in containers or rock gardens.

This plant thrives in bright light with well-drained soil and requires minimal watering, making it well suited to water-wise gardening. It appreciates warmth and protection from frost, and is generally easy to grow with little maintenance.

Ideal for both new gardeners looking for a forgiving succulent and seasoned collectors who enjoy unusual specimens, this stapelia adds striking form, curiosity, and character to any sunny growing space.
