Scabiosa ‘Pink Mist’
Delicate yet long-flowering, Scabiosa ‘Pink Mist’ is a charming perennial that brings soft colour and movement to the garden for months on end. Its pale blush-pink, pincushion-like blooms rise gracefully above neat mounds of finely cut, grey-green foliage, attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinators throughout the warmer seasons. The airy flowers are perfect for picking and last well in arrangements.
This easy-to-grow perennial thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it ideal for South African gardens where long, dry summers are common. It performs beautifully in borders, cottage gardens, or rockeries, and is especially striking when planted in drifts or mixed with blues, purples and silvers. Deadhead regularly to extend flowering, and cut back lightly after each flush to maintain a tidy, compact shape.
Scabious ‘Pink Mist’ is both drought-tolerant once established and relatively frost-hardy, offering effortless beauty and colour almost year-round in mild regions.

Aechmea gamosepela, the ‘matchstick bromeliad’ has mid-green leaves with rounded tips. It reaches a height of approx 30cm.
Endemic to southern Brazil.It produces spikes topped with pink flowers with blue tips. Once open, the blue tips reveal pink flowers with a blue throat.

A robust but short lived biennial or perennial that grows up to 1.5m tall. Also known as Madeira Cranesbill or Giant Herb Robert.
Large clouds of showy purplish-pink flowers 4cm across, with darker centres.
The plant is supposedly not fussy about soil, but it needs to be well drained. (I have no luck with it in my garden though!)
Flowers in Spring. Prefers a full sun or even partial shade.
