The Elderberry is an erect plant that can be placed in full sun. It is a truly multi-purpose plant and can be used for a hedge, wildlife attractant, landscaping and for their abundance of fruit. The gooseberry is a bushy shrub growing up to approximately 1.5m tall that bears yellowy orange fruit in a papery envelope called a husk. The plant should be placed in full sun, but tolerates partly shade. It is easy to grow and grow in most soils, but prefers loamy soil with a ph between 5.5 and 7.0 (KCl). The plant is self-fertile.

A one year old tayberry plant in a 3L shrub pot
The Tayberry is a cross between the Blackberry and Red Raspberry plants with all the good qualities of the original genus such as the large fruit size, fruit firmness and vigorous growth of the blackberry, with the great taste and colour of the red raspberry. The plant bears edible fruit, perfect for jams, tarts, desserts, juices, teas or fresh fruits.
The Tayberry is a trellising shrub that should be placed in full sun, but can tolerate part shade. Soil PH level of 6.0 – 6.8. Prefers loamy, well drained soil. Cold hardy, but protection must be given in heavy frost areas. Well decomposed compost can be mixed in with the soil before planting. Fertilize in spring. Prune lightly in winter. A trellis or a fence can be used to support the growing branches which can grow up to 3m long.
Submerge the pot in water for 10 minutes before transplanting.
Self-pollinating.
