Hydrangea serrata Grayswood
This is also one of my favourites : A small deciduous shrub with ovate leaves. Lace-cap flower-heads with blue central fertile florets surrounded by white sterile ones which turn with age to pink and crimson, flowering in late spring to summer – which is why it’s known as a Christmas Rose in South Africa. Or hortensia for Europeans.
Deciduous, flowers Nov-Mar (eventual height approx 1m).
The flowers are excellent for cutting
Half sun or shade.
Delicate flowers.
Echium Russicum
With its spectacular crimson flower spikes, strong upright habit, and outstanding ecological value, Echium russicum is an exceptional perennial for gardeners seeking something both distinctive and easy to maintain. Its resilience, drought tolerance, and ability to attract a wide variety of pollinating insects make it a valuable addition to ornamental borders, wildlife gardens, and naturalistic landscapes.
With their distinctive forms, natural durability, and remarkable versatility, eucalyptus seed pods have become a favourite decorative element for homes, events, and creative projects alike. Their organic beauty complements both contemporary and traditional interiors while offering a sustainable alternative to short-lived fresh floral materials.
Whether incorporated into dried flower arrangements, handcrafted décor, seasonal displays, or botanical collections, eucalyptus seed pods bring lasting texture, warmth, and timeless appeal to any setting, making them an enduring favourite among florists, decorators, and nature enthusiasts.
Lovely lemony scent in your garden!
This is a fast growing woody shrub with fragrant leaves that give off a lemony-scent when the leaves are rubbed or brushed against. Uplifts mood and promotes positive feelings.
Flowers in Spring and Autumn. Prefers a full sun or even partial shade. Minimal water.
From the verbena family Verbenaceae, native to South America. Other common names include lemon beebrush. It was brought to Europe by the Spanish and the Portuguese in the 17th century and cultivated for its oil.
For sale in South Africa. Couriered nationwide.
