Acanthus Mollis (also known as wild rhubarb, bears breeches)
This plant has lovely large shiny leaves which make an architectural show.
The tall flower spires are ivory white and purple or slightly pink bracts and appear October – November (spring time) and are a long-lasting cut flower that also dries well.
This plant dies back completely in Autumn and during winter, to appear again the following Spring.
Excellent to plant in dry shade. Although if no water is given, the plants also disappear, thus being relatively drought hardy.
Cool sun and light shade. This plant originates from Portugal, Europe.
Unfortunately, the (larger pot size) plants are not able to be sent via courier. They are click and collect only.
Alternatively, please arrange your own courier for pickup.
The smaller pot sized plants are courier-able… and this will show at checkout.
Please note: These plants naturally die back (underground) in summer (in the Western Cape) due to the restriction/withdrawal of water. If you water them well and regularly they will sprout again (depending on your location/weather). We sometimes withold water so we can ship them more easily. Plants are difficult to pack/courier in early Spring/mid Spring because they are so lush and have (long) flower spikes. We try and reflect this by changing our in stock/out of stock status, but please bear in mind the time of year when ordering.
