    Agapanthus praecox Barley Blue

Beautiful, short stemmed agapanthus. Barley Blue is one of the earliest to start flowering. Very floriferous and hardy. Up to 12-15 stems on a mature plant. If you do not have a spot in the garden, just pop them into pots for a marvelous color splash. Agapanthus plants are very easy to grow, they love to be in a sunny spot, but will tolerate some shade. Feed them regularly with a balanced organic fertilizer.

These plants are sold open ground, but fully rooted. Excellent for mass planting. Because they are so hardy and easy to grow, they will establish themselves in a very short period of time, and give a breathtaking flowering show.

Anna Mae Hagar is a stunning large yellow flower with a green throat. Very easy to grow.

    An interesting fact about Daylilies:

    “One Day Wonder”
Each flower typically lasts for only a single day — hence the name daylily (from the Greek hemera = day, kallos = beauty). But don’t worry — each stem carries many buds, so the display continues for weeks!

Good old boy is a beautiful pale orange with a maroon yellow center and sometimes a deep maroon margin.  Large flowers.  Very easy to grow.

    An interesting fact about Daylilies:

    Edible Blooms
In parts of Asia, especially China, daylily buds and flowers are edible and used in soups, salads, and stir-fries. (Always confirm the species and avoid hybrids for consumption.)

    Tough as Nails
Despite their delicate looks, daylilies are extremely hardy and can survive drought, heat, frost, and poor soils — making them ideal for low-maintenance or waterwise gardens.

    Hellebores

Add a touch of winter elegance to your garden with Hellebores – often called the “Winter Rose.” These hardy, long-lived perennials are treasured for their ability to bloom when little else is in flower, producing graceful, nodding blooms in shades of white, soft pink, deep plum, and green.

Perfect for shaded gardens, Hellebores thrive beneath trees or in cool, protected borders, bringing life and colour to otherwise quiet spaces. Their attractive, evergreen foliage provides year-round structure, while their low-maintenance nature makes them ideal for both experienced gardeners and beginners.

Whether planted in garden beds, woodland settings, or stylish containers, Hellebores offer a timeless, understated beauty. Drought-tolerant once established and resistant to most pests, they are as practical as they are beautiful.

A must-have for any garden looking to extend the flowering season and create a calm, natural feel.

Pelargonium tomentosum — often called peppermint-scented pelargonium — is a charming, soft-leaved plant grown as much for its fragrance as its looks. Its velvety, heart-shaped leaves release a fresh peppermint scent when touched, making it a delight along pathways, patios, or anywhere you can brush past it.

In season, delicate white flowers with subtle markings rise above the foliage, adding gentle beauty without overpowering the plant’s main attraction — its scented leaves. Its spreading, slightly trailing habit makes it ideal for pots, hanging baskets, or as a soft groundcover in sheltered garden spots.

This pelargonium prefers bright light or partial shade and well-drained soil. It is easy to care for, forgiving of occasional neglect, and benefits from light trimming to keep it compact and bushy.

Perfect for both new gardeners wanting a rewarding, low-fuss plant and seasoned growers who appreciate sensory garden plants, peppermint pelargonium adds texture, fragrance, and charm wherever it grows.

    Salvia Gesneriifolia (Tequila Sunrise)

Native to the mountainous areas of Mexico, these herbaceous perennial plants or large shrubs are a lovely addition to a garden.

Red flowers with dark maroon (almost black) calyces these plants reach 2-3m high unless pruned to size. These plants flower so regularly that it’s sometimes difficult to know when to prune them back into shape. Don’t prune hard to the ground otherwise you risk losing the plant. Easy to grow shrub that likes some partial or semi shaded position. It needs some regular watering during the hottest summer months.

    Coreopsis, also known as tickseed.

A hardy perennial with bright, daisy-like flowers in shades of yellow, orange. Loved for its long blooming period and easy-care nature, coreopsis adds a cheerful splash of color to borders, cottage gardens, and containers. It also attracts pollinators, making it a garden favorite.

    Growing Conditions:
Coreopsis thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flower production and healthy growth.
Soil: Prefers well-drained soils, ranging from sandy to loamy. While it can tolerate poor, dry soils, good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Water: Drought-tolerant once established. Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings.
    Overwatering should be avoided.

Pruning: Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming. After the flowering season, lightly prune the plant to maintain its shape.

This is also one of my favourites : A small deciduous shrub with ovate leaves.
