Geranium Maderense.
A robust but short lived biennial or perennial that grows up to 1.5m tall. Also known as Madeira Cranesbill or Giant Herb Robert.
Large clouds of showy purplish-pink flowers 4cm across, with darker centres.
The plant is supposedly not fussy about soil, but it needs to be well drained. (I have no luck with it in my garden though!)
Flowers in Spring. Prefers a full sun or even partial shade.
For sale in South Africa. Couriered nationwide.
Sedum rubrotinctum is a delightful succulent that combines beauty, resilience, and simplicity in one compact plant. Its colourful foliage, easy-care requirements, and remarkable adaptability have made it one of the most popular ornamental succulents worldwide. Whether displayed indoors on a sunny windowsill or incorporated into an outdoor drought-tolerant garden, the Jelly Bean Plant provides year-round interest with very little maintenance, making it an excellent addition to any plant collection.
Alstroemeria, commonly called the Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Alstroemeriaceae. They are all native to South America.
This form is variegated – it has beautiful white and green leaves. This Colorita alstromeria is a naturally compact variety that will flower all summer long from early spring. Low maintenance and beautiful in containers or in the ground.
Add a touch of soft romance and uniqueness to your garden with Agapanthus ‘Blush Pink’, a rare, sought after and beautiful variety.
It produces graceful clusters of unique white pink flowers on strong, slender stems above lush, narrow, strap-like foliage. The colour is influenced by light and soil conditions. Flowering through summer, it brings delicate colour to borders, pots and pathways, and is equally striking planted in groups or as a soft contrast.
Like other agapanthus, Blush Pink is hardy, waterwise, and easy to care for once established. It IS slightly more delicate than normal agapanthus, so it does need a bit more care. It thrives in sun to semi shade and well-drained soil that’s slightly acidic (pH 5–6). It’s important to use ericaceous compost. Water regularly during the growing season and reduce watering in winter.
Echium fastuosum. Pride of Madeira.
Blue spires of flowers make this a stunning addition to a garden. This is a fast growing and tough perennial plant that grows in dry or clay or poor soil, but does need drainage. Bees love the flowers.
The blue flower spires can be up to 2 feet in length. Cut the spent flower spikes and finger pinch / gently prune to maintain a dense habit.
Full sun. Native to Madeira Island.
