These beautiful perennial plants bearing masses of large flowers, are also known as Christmas Roses in South Africa.
They need shade or partial shade and enough water to flourish. The acidity of the soil affects the colour of their flowers; acid compost will make the flowers more blue or purple, depending on the variety.
Flowers are also excellent for cutting and stay fresh in the vase for a long time. Flowers can also be dried.
Scabiosa ‘Fama Deep Blue’ is an absolute showstopper with its large, velvety pincushion-like blooms in a rich, royal blue-purple hue. Perfect for South African gardens, these striking flowers add an elegant pop of colour to beds, borders, and containers. Whether you’re designing a wild cottage garden or a sleek modern space, ‘Fama Deep Blue’ brings both bold visual impact and delicate charm.
