Agave Titanota Small Compacta

Euphorbia bupleurifolia is a rare and attractive caudiciform succulent known for its pineapple-like stem covered in patterned tubercles and topped with a crown of slender green leaves. This unusual species develops a thick swollen stem that stores water, allowing it to survive long dry periods. Its sculptural appearance makes it highly prized among collectors of rare Euphorbias and caudiciform plants. During the growing season, it may produce small yellow-green flowers near the crown. It thrives in warm conditions, bright light, and very well-draining soil.

Because of its distinctive shape, Euphorbia bupleurifolia is often nicknamed the “Pine Cone Euphorbia” or “Pineapple Euphorbia” among collectors.

Original Habitat:
Native to the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, where it grows in rocky dry bushveld and semi-arid environments.

Interesting Fact:
The species name mesembryanthemoides means “resembling a mesemb,” because the plant closely mimics members of the Mesemb family as a survival adaptation in its natural habitat.

Gasteria ellaphieae is ’n kompakte, stadig-groeiende vetplant wat inheems is aan Suid-Afrika, spesifiek die Oos-Kaap. Dit behoort aan die Asphodelaceae-familie en is vernoem na die bekende plantillustreerder Ellaphie Ward-Hilhorst. Die plant word gekenmerk deur sy digte, vlesige blare wat in ’n waaierpatroon (distig) gerangskik is. Die blare is donkergroen met ligte of wit kolle, en volwasse plante dra buisvormige pienk-rooi blommetjies op dun stingels in die laat winter tot lente. Gasteria ellaphieae verkies helder, indirekte lig en goed dreinerende grond. Dit is droogtebestand en moet slegs natgemaak word wanneer die grond heeltemal droog is. Hierdie spesie is ideaal vir potte of rotstuine, maar moet beskerm word teen ryp en oormatige vog. Voortplanting geskied maklik via blaarstekke of sytakke (uitlopers).
