Ortegocactus macdougallii is a rare and unique species of cactus native to a small region in Oaxaca, Mexico. It is a small, globular cactus that usually grows as a solitary plant but can form small clusters over time. The body is dark green to gray-green with distinctive black spines and a slightly woolly crown. One of its most striking features is the chalky, bluish-grey coating on the skin, which helps protect it from intense sunlight. It produces bright yellow flowers in spring or early summer. Due to its limited natural habitat, it is considered a vulnerable species and is prized by cactus collectors.

Tulista pumila (formerly Haworthia pumila) is a striking and slow-growing succulent native to the Western Cape of South Africa. Known for its architectural beauty, this plant forms compact rosettes of thick, fleshy, dark green to brownish leaves covered with prominent raised white tubercles, giving it a textured, bumpy appearance.

Tulista pumila can grow up to 20 cm (8 inches) tall and wide, with mature plants producing tall, slender flower stalks bearing small, tubular, pale pink to white flowers—typically blooming in late spring to summer. The leaves are triangular and curved inward, often with toothed margins, adding to its ornamental value.

This species is drought-tolerant and prefers well-draining soil, partial sun to bright indirect light, and minimal watering—making it ideal for rock gardens, succulent collections, or container displays. Tulista pumila is also prized for its resilience and unique form, often regarded as one of the most attractive members of the Tulista genus.

A Euphorbia parvimedusae hybrid is a cultivated succulent variety developed by crossing Euphorbia parvimedusae—a rare and unusual species from South Africa—with another Euphorbia species, often to enhance certain traits such as size, growth habit, or ease of cultivation. These hybrids typically retain the unique, medusoid appearance of the parent species, characterized by a central caudex (swollen stem base) from which numerous cylindrical arms or branches radiate, resembling a sea anemone or the mythological head of Medusa.
