This lovely perennial needs a cool, shady spot and deep, rich, moist soil. Its fern-like foliage is attractive from spring through summer.
White delicate flowers. Astible grows best in part shade, will not flower well in dark shade. Thrives in moist, well-drained soil that has a slightly acidic pH (6.0). Cover the root zone with a layer of bark chips or other mulch to help retain moisture in the soil and hold down any competing weeds.

Ericaceous compost is acidic and is beneficial for plants that like an acid soil. For example camellias, rhododendrons, erica’s etc.
Hydrangeas also benefit, making their colours more intense and also making certain flowers more blue in colour. The pH of an acidic soil is typically between 4.5 and 6.
