Nymphaeaceae is a family of flowering plants, commonly called water lilies. They live as rhizomatous aquatic herbs in temperate and tropical climates around the world. They are ideal for fish ponds and are quite hardy. They provide shade to the water that prevents algae growth and provides protection for fish from predators.
They go dormant in winter therefore it is important to remember when the temperatures drop, that your lilies are not dying, only going to sleep. As soon as the water temperature rise they will shoot out new leaves and soon the beautiful exotic flowers.
They need full sun to flower.
Something I found amusing and interesting that the flowers will open about 10 o`clock in the morning and close again about 3 o`clock in the afternoon.
Plant in large pots or directly in the sediment. The bigger the pot the bigger the leaves and flowers. If you want to plant them directly in the sediment, put some rocks on the roots to prevent them from floating to the top, till their roots anchor themselves.
If your lilies should get aphids spray with a diluted spray of 1 tablespoon vinegar and 1 tablespoon sunlight liquid on 5liters of water. This is non toxic to the fish.

Actual height of the plant (when couriered) – 50cm. They are definitely worth the little effort they require.
