Cotyledon tomentosa ‘Variegated’, commonly known as Variegated Bear’s Paw, is a striking succulent native to South Africa, particularly the Eastern Cape region. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family and is beloved for its thick, fuzzy, claw-shaped leaves with creamy-yellow variegation and reddish tooth-like tips—resembling a bear’s paw. In spring, mature plants may produce bell-shaped orange to reddish flowers. This plant prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate some direct sun, especially in the morning. It grows best in well-draining, sandy soil and should be watered sparingly—only when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering is a common issue and can cause root rot. The variegated form is slightly more sensitive to sun and cold than the standard species, so protection from frost is essential. Propagation is usually done through leaf or stem cuttings, though care must be taken as the leaves are delicate.
Versorgingsinstruksies:
- Lig: Vereis helder, indirekte sonlig.
